Log Home Construction

Our distinctive log homes are constructed from spruce and pine, chosen for their higher strength and durability. The natural insulation properties provide good acoustic and thermal performance. This timber is usually used as wall logs and for larger tongue and groove boards. It is imported from our carefully managed woods in Latvia, where the rugged, cold and harsh environment produces tough, slow growing trees.

Manufacture begins with the harvesting and machining at the plantation. We promote environmentally friendly, natural and sustainable products. Timber is forested from our owned woods; therefore quality of materials is always checked and guaranteed. All materials are specially selected and where applicable, they are BS (British Standards) compliant or BBA (British Board Agreement) approved. All log properties are constructed to the relevant British standards and to building regulations.

Our ranges of timber log cabins are made with a specially designed interlocking groove joint along the whole length of each log. At corners the wood is machined with a weather resistant cross-halved joint, which adds further to the structure. The floor is constructed with floor joist and covered by tongue and grooved floorboards. The roof is supported by full-length purlins at the ridge and mid-span positions and the walls at the eaves. Again the roof boards are tongue and grooved.
